I'd heard about the Carlton Clydesdales prior to seeing them in person for the first time on the weekend. The idea behind this successful and ongoing publicity campaign is to take viewers back in time, to the days of when beer was transported from town to town by means of horse and cart using the mighty Clydesdale breed of horse. So, I was sitting at the Blues on Broadbeach festival on the weekend enjoying a coffee and listening to the music, when my attention was immediately drawn to the sheer size of these horses trotting along the boulevard, in front of a crowd of thousands who had also taken their eyes off the music to witness the spectacle. This mobile advertisement stopped traffic and captivated festival goers who were multiply drawn to the many Carlton Draught brand banners on display. What a great idea, an innovative strategy to grab attention for a brand, and in Carlton's case it directly aligns with the companies culture and values.
Branding strategy is one of the most important aspects of focus in ensuring business success. An effective branding strategy will properly communicate to consumers your companies intentions, ideals, personality, and most of all it will assist in creating a competitive advantage.
It is important to not look at branding as merely just the logo. The logo is the foundation of your brand, which is in turn integrated with slogans, colour schemes, celebrity endorsers, packaging, promotional tools and all of which is used to represent your company to consumers. Branding is the first thing in which is conjured in our minds when we think of a company, thus it is necessary to ensure that your branding strategy appeals to a mass audience.
Defining a companies branding strategy is a self-discovery process, which involves many questions that need to be answered in order to move forward. Some of these questions include:
What product and service benefits is your company promoting?
What do your customers and affiliates think of your brand at present?
What qualities do you want the public to associate with your company?
What is your companies vision and mission?

The daily London commuter was treated to something very out of the ordinary yesterday when four workers travelled to work completely naked and acted as if it was normal behavior. The aim of this stunt was to promote a new TV series, The Naked Office, which shows disfunctional businesses turning themselves around with the help of the strategy of working stark naked. Do you think this would be a good idea for your office?

Leading up to this weeks International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), the event organizers along with a number of fellow organizers including Notcot, Sub-Studio,Apartment Therapy, Design Milk, Mocoloco, The World's Best ever and Design Glut have put up a number of clues as to where contestants may find the above design inspired stickers throughout New York City. Contestants who find a sticker must take a picture and send it to the #objecthunt Twitter page to be in contention for some amazing prizes. This initiative is such a good example of how a business or event can create huge amounts of buzz for something in a short amount of time. Bye for now.
I was just sifting through some pictures of fashion forward people on the Swagger 360 blog. I particularly like these pictures of ladies and gentlemen in their workwear. Obviously, the creativity doesn't just extend to private time and I'm sure these examples and other people alike, would be a source of fascination and interest in the workplace.
Keeping busy with Gold Coast Football Club, Tusk took a look at creating this GCFC crowd as part of print campaign promoting membership recruitment. Don't expect to see a crowd of 2D illustrated characters at the next CCFC game though - they tend to be a little more 'animated' than these guys.
Keep an eye out for more of this crew popping up in coming months as the continue to spread the GCFC message.
If your a member of the Gold Coast Football Club you should have received your copy of the first edition new member's magazine in the post by now. If not, your missing out!
The new look sees a departure from the 6pg A3 newsletter format to a more compact 24pg A5 magazine. Having developed the previous newsletters, we new that as the club continues it's rapid growth and in turn having so much more to connect with their members about, a new approach to the format was needed. With a heap of stories, interviews and photos there a load of content here to keep the keen GCFC members at bay until the next issue lands in the post.
Sitting here on this cold and rainy day on the out of character Gold Coast, it's hard not to dream of being somewhere with white sand and clear water. Personally, I would look no further then this beautiful resort situated on the Island of Hadahaa. The Alila Villas Hadahaa Resort is a perfect mix of breath taking scenery, contemporary architecture and innovative interior design. This looks like the perfect place to unwind and get those creative juices flowing again. I've already put in a word to the boss to have our Christmas party there! You should do the same.
